Individual Volunteers

Spaghetti SquashIndividual students interested in volunteering regularly at the ECEC, are asked to read the information below, complete the forms, and bring in the required paperwork. There is an automated form at the bottom of this page for you to submit requested information.  Please note that if you are a volunteer at the ECEC, you are not allowed to privately babysit for the families. Please consider this before becoming a regular volunteer.

To volunteer, we require the following:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) test within the last six months*
  • Proof of Measles (MMR) and Pertussis (TDaP) vaccinations.  Must be an official immunization record copy.
  • Annual Influenza vaccination record or statement declining shot between Sept. 1- Dec. 1
  • Required online training on CANRA and child abuse reporting.
  • Fingerprint clearance through the FBI, DoJ, and CACAI (California Child Abuse Index).  UC Merced will cover the cost of the LiveScan once all other requirements have been met.

*Once received, it is good for your duration as a volunteer

Student Ongoing Personal Volunteer Form

By clicking on the checkbox below, I acknowledge that as an ongoing volunteer working with children at the ECEC, I will not be able to babysit for any ECEC family. Babysitting for an ECEC family you met or know through volunteering is a conflict of interest.

To be an ongoing volunteer at the ECEC, there will be some required trainings that need to be completed, documentation submitted, and fingerprints cleared.

We require the following trainings to be completed:

  • CANRA Mandated Reporter training – UC Learning Center ME-RS-CANRA-UCLOL0065-COMPLIANCE
  • Praesidium Academy Training – email invitation will be sent to you from Praesidium Academy. You will need to complete the CANRA Mandated Reporter Training and the Mandated Reporting for Childcare Personnel trainings.

We need the following immunization records (not from Student Health Portal, but from home doctor or Yellow Immunization Records):

  • Pertussis (TDaP), Measles, and Flu (between Oct-Dec annually or self declination)

Fingerprint Clearance – register through Guardian – email will be sent to you. Campus is paying the fingerprinting fees (DoJ, FBI, and Child Abuse Index)

Once we have verification of completed trainings, copies of required immunizations, and notification that your fingerprints have cleared, you will be able to start volunteering at the UC Merced ECEC. Welcome to the ECEC!
